How does this plane stay in the air, anyway? In From the Flight Deck: Plane Talk and Sky Science, pilot, meteorologist, and flight-school instructor Doug Morris lets you take the window seat on a trip around the world, giving you the scoop on everything from take-off to landing. He explains what you see looking out the window, what that window is made of, and how the plane is kept in rigorous flying condition. Perfect for informing the aviation enthusiast and calming the fearful flier, From the Flight Deck tells you everything you want to know about commercial airline travel: the physics of flight, how airplanes work and what they're made of, how pilots are trained, route planning and the importance of the ground crew, turbulence, flying in storms, what the flight crew gets up to on layovers, and much more.

This is the only book that I have read more than once. So much information in only pages and it is written to you not at you. Captain Doug answers all the questions you have ever had about flying but were afraid to ask: e. I wont tell you but you can find the 'who would have thunk it' answer in the book.

    How do Airplanes fly?

I would highly recommend that you take this book with you on your next Trans-Atlantic flight so you can fly along with Capt. Doug as he tells you what is going on during his Toronto to Hong Kong flight. This really is a must read, for everyone who ever stopped and watched planes land on the side of road, or just loved the thrill of being a passenger for the first time. Thank you Captain Doug for writing this book! Date published: Such an awesome book, definitely inspired me. Checks over many phases of flight, from weather phenomenon over the arctic to the weight of a coat of paint on an Air Canada Boeing Great read, recommend it to ANY Canadian aviation enthusiast, big or small.
